FBI's Confidential Sources on Biden Family: What We Know

In a shocking revelation this week, Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) disclosed that the FBI had obtained 'criminal information' from over 40 confidential sources related to the Biden family, spanning back to Joe Biden’s tenure as Vice President. This has stirred significant controversy and raised numerous legal and ethical questions about the potential interference in the investigative process.

The gravitas of this information cannot be understated. Grassley alleges that despite accumulating crucial details from these confidential sources on a range of criminal matters pertaining to the Biden family, a task force from the FBI's Washington Field Office actively curtailed the reporting from these sources. In some instances, they allegedly discredited this information as mere 'foreign disinformation', causing a cessation in the related investigative activities.

One significant point of contention is that, despite efforts to undermine the credibility of the information, a particular confidential source's details were authenticated by multiple U.S. attorney's offices. These checks found no links to known sources of Russian disinformation.

A substantial component of this controversy revolves around Joe Biden's alleged involvement in a $10 million bribery scheme with Burisma CEO, Mykola Zlochevsky. The FD-1023 form, released over the summer by Grassley, implies that Joe Biden and his son, Hunter Biden, received significant sums from Zlochevsky in what was described as an act of coercion. This arrangement was seemingly made to leverage Joe Biden's influence to handle issues faced by Burisma, especially concerning its ambitions in North America.

In support of this claim, Zlochevsky is said to have maintained a trove of text messages and recordings highlighting his interactions with the Bidens, alongside financial records that provide evidence of this arrangement.

Furthermore, Joe Biden's public comments from 2018, where he claimed to have influenced Ukraine to fire Viktor Shokin, the then Ukrainian Prosecutor General investigating Burisma, adds another layer of complexity to the matter.

Implications and Legal Questions

While these revelations are undoubtedly significant, it is crucial to tread cautiously. At present, the precise legal implications are unclear, but if proven true, these allegations could lead to unprecedented ramifications in the political arena, including a potential impeachment inquiry spearheaded by Congressional Republicans.

Nevertheless, it is pivotal for all investigations to be thorough, transparent, and devoid of political bias, to ensure that the truth prevails and justice is served.
